| The City Looking out across the Atlantic
Ocean from the Bay of Cádiz, El Puerto de Santa María is
an Andalusian town set among beautiful beaches bathed in
sunshine for 300 days a year. Its position on the "Coast of
Light" (Costa de la Luz)
and its Mediterranean climate make it a popular holiday
destination for Spaniards. The surrounding region is famous
for its "vino de Jerez" sherry, its mountains with their
picturesque white-washed villages, its seafood cuisine,
and best of all, the exuberant spirit of the Andalusian
people so evident in the carnival, Holy Week, fairs, flamenco
and traditional singing and dancing. |
